Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 10 June 1987. Harris discusses growing up in Maringouin, Louisiana, attending school in Baton Rouge and Grambling University, his courtship and marriage, attempts to play professional football, and interracial experiences. He also talks about his early religious experiences, conversion to the Mormon Church, and views on that faith.
